Double Jump? If they make the combat encourage fast paced movement with quick melee enemy's and slow moving projectiles, this game will already be worth its weight in gold. Also I guess they're not even bothering with voxelization for idtech 6?

You should sticky that friar. Brings up some good stuff thats not just d3 specific either, but important for other fowardrendered engines using ala lot of dynamic lights. Also 70000 primitives? I know of some l4d2 maps that get around 2-3 times that many. Might b an old article though, and I guess source gets multithreading to do the heavy lifting

Bought the new wolf on sale ( cause ever since I bought civ5 I've said I'm not buying a game over 30 dollars again) and its suprisingly good. Not excelent or genre defining yet. I'm just at the hospital part, but its enjoyable so far. The map layout is easy enough to get around but if ur not paying attention, u will get lost( in my book that is the minimum for map difficulty but once reached is sufficient) I could go on, but I will say that compared to wolf 2009, this one really feels like it has good direction gom people who can 1. See the big picture 2. Do want to make a fun game to an extent, kt just one that sells. Looking at the trailers I lost A LOT of enthusiasm cause it liked like so many other piles of s@#$ out there, but its not bad. Everything seems to be balanced and thought out to a higher degree then rage or the last wolf. I gotta say, and in many ways this is a compliment. The only real thing biting at me is the lack of AA. now I could understand if this was a deferred rendered game, but as far as I know its foward. Even still, some post processs AA option would b nice, but none at all? I feel like an entitled deuchejust saying this since not to long ago I had toasters more powerful then my pc, but its really hard to not c the alaising, even on 1080p. I almost feel rage looked better cause I could gpu transcode on my gt630, run 2x AA and b good, especially with the character models, but here, its a disappointment. Either way, having WAY more fun with this so far then I ever had with rage

Btw, the physics the same in wolf as in rage? And anyone touch the md6 models and find out what or if is different/better abot them over md5?

Good point, ESPECIALLY if ur talking about reusing just about anything past the brushes. Those engines mentioned have come pretty far especially on the shader end of things and if u haven't seen them b4 can be pretty suprising. If you want to know about darkplaces, motorsep is the guy to talk to. If u want a quick look at what can be done at the edge of etxreal, here's a quick vid

Anyone know how to get your hands on some of the lesser known idtech 4 games? Its been said for example quake wars needs to be bought second hand now, but what about prey?

Or now that I'm thinking about it, if push comes to shove, you can't fix whatever I was doing wrong and friars method doesn't work, you could try a real roundabout method. Export brushes into blender, and bring them back into idstudio.Question though. IsIsn't the charachter model bigger in I'd4 and 5? Meaning the scaling would be off?

A good while ago I tried opening a .map file made in doomedit into idstudio. It didn't work at all but I'm pretty noob and I spent more time typing this as I did actually trying to get it to work. The way I understand it, all u really want are the brushes from the q3 map correct? And sorry if it seems like I am hijacking this but I think Viking would like to know. Couldn't you just import the models and whatever else from wolf into idstudio?

Well I look forard to it, the required playtime for ur first one was about good fir someone trying to do it in one sitting and had to go to sleep to be able to work that same night. And it seems pretty clear that u already recogniz the asset diversity thing. I should note though, what u had was completly satisfactory for the job. By no means were the rooms identical, and thus navigatable if the player was paying close attention and keeping track. So u still managed to do a good job, even compared to the old school 2.5d that were built in a similar light. U asked for a critic, so there it was

Lol so I was completly off, clever stuff still, I feel bad that I didn't think of that since I was looking up right when d3w went down how strombine faked its gi (same deal as the trees). Thanks for the explination, was bugging me when I saw it

Ya, I'd love it to b more of a runnyjumpyshooty kinda thing then d3 was. D3 was doom, and did a decent enough job at that, so I hope they just leave that where it is and major the gamplay faster and more frantic like d2. Would b so much fun to dodge cyberdemon rockets and God knows what else, while shooting back, all on something similar to rages movment system
