Weapon idea - Force field shield

I was thinking about adding a force field like shield secondary fire mode to the Grabber in ROE and was wondering if anybody had ever added something like this before. I was thinking of making the shield an actual actor that would be spawned by the weapon as long as the fire button was held down and the shield actor would be bound to the weapons muzzle bone. Would this work or is there an easier way to go about this. I'm at work so this is one of my bored to death ideas that I can't try out at the moment.

Did you end up spawning a new entity each time you use it or did you do something else like changing a skin so then it appears & has collision?

Thanks for the kind words.

I actually set it up much like a very fast machine gun. A projectile with a size set big enough to collide with other projectiles is fired out rapidly while the button is held down. It's given a very short fuse. The effects are called on like normal through the def file. It's very simple really. I tried to make it harder on myself but found this to be more then efficient.

No. It's not something you'd want to use all the time. Making that video required me to use it way more then I would in game. I don't think you're gonna hit that limit in a single map unless u want to.

Pretty cool idea with the grabber.

If projectiles are being destroyed properly entity limit shouldn't get reached. I made the chainsaw in Phrozo Mod 2 shoot projectiles instead of melee striking and it was never a problem.

I kind of thought that too but wasn't sure if it counted them when they were spawned and kept them in the count even after they were removed. Like I said I never met the limit though. Hopefully you are right.
