These forums are quite empty
« on: September 09, 2015, 02:06:38 PM »
Hi,

I was under the impression Doom 3 had still quite an active modding community? I guess I was obviously wrong. With Elite force that game being fifteen years old this month, there is no more than a handful that including for Elite force 2.

As for the GTA community, I think that is quite strong. Or Mafia that is gone.

One task is modding a game, and the other is developing for it using the game engine with new content in mind.

What actually happened with the team that made the Doom 3 game? I tried to send a couple of emails, one didn't work with one of the team members. I got this via Doom world forums.

I had thought about how old some of the images there must of been, but when I saw the hardware, they were older than my twelve year old system I'm using.

It's true, the community isn't as active as it could be, but I think a few of us are trying to change that. The modding community is trying to recover after some setbacks.

I hope  :-[

What popular modifications were released? I viewed Moddb, but there isn't anything there of real importance.

Have there been some scratch made mods to?

Who runs the iddev site for 3?

I can't see anything much? somebody will have to give me some examples. I only bought the pc copy last month and installed it a few days ago. So as to what nice mods are available, new content or not, I can't name one.

Well what would be of real importance to you? Because I just looked at the first page of the mods for Doom 3 and saw many great works.

Mine included... cough... shameless promotion... it's usually always in the top 3 most popular mods... cough... its got over 500 watchers... its been ranked as high as 13... :P

Hmm, its hard for me to have a passion for this game. I only like very small select elements of the game. I guess mods aren't really of interest for me. I've only felt to try and create a small edit myself or a few connecting maps. It all started when I was playing the Xbox copy and I enjoyed the tram ride on the Monorail. I thought that was really nice.

Having viewed the contents I realised there was more planned or considered but not final in the release of the Doom 3.

Nice. I hope to get into the top 10 with the ROE inclusion. Although version 7 for Doom 3 could get in there without involving ROE. The last big news post I had for PD3 shot me up to 13 and I didn't even release anything.

@ doom3xbox
I don't understand how great mods could not be found. I think you lack the interest in general. Doom 3 is not for everybody in the long run.

Forums are "empty" because I don't want the political/OT subsections other have.

I don't understand how great mods could not be found. I think you lack the interest in general. Doom 3 is not for everybody in the long run.

I'd be lying if I stated to everyone I'll be buying Doom 4 after release. I played the Doom 3 demo in october 2004 when the system I'm using had 64MB Geforce 4 MX 420 graphics card, a 2002 card. The 2006 card I'm using handles doom excellently.

I only last year thought hey I've got an Xbox, and it still works(bought it in March 2008, was manufactured in May 2005, and its broken the, probably fell on the floor by the previous owner.) But its still working till this day.

Bought a copy of Amazon UK, certainly some freight moments, but more so when I played it when I was fifteen. I own a second copy for the xbox, when we moved home last year, I don't know what happened to the first preowned copy.

Perhaps I'll play Doom 4 in 2026.

I hope to produce something for the Doom 3. It may only be for the monorail map, not that was my first objective. I wanted to connect that map with two others or something and then what, have some daemons chase the player and control some doors and having some alert flashing lights.

I've been thinking that may be my small edit can only work if the tram isn't going somewhere. And since nobody has even used the tram, nobody can seem to assist me.
