The Mayem... The Carnage... The Killing Spree...

...that is now possible in MCS multiplayer... 8)

The RBDOOM-3-BFG build supports multiplayer using the console +connect command to connect to someone else's lobby.

So yes custom recompiled builds of D3 BFG do support multiplayer.

Thanks for the details Friar.

As an mp only player I'll have to pass on the GOG offer but I am sure the SP players will appreciate this move.

Not so fast...

On steam currently original Doom3 is offered for 1.24 $/€

http://store.steampowered.com/app/9050/DOOM_3/

And when I open the GOG.com Doom3 BFG profile link I read that only Singleplayer is supported.

https://www.gog.com/game/doom_3_bfg_edition

Can anyone confirm the GOG Singleplayer only statement ? If so that would be a major turn off.

Idtech4 Android/Windows/Linux True CrossPlatform Multiplayer Footage

Not too long ago you needed a several thousand dollars high performance gaming computer to be able to run this at those quality settings...
And now it runs on my mobile phone with complete CrossPlatform Multiplayer capabilities...

I still remember it so vividly seeing the original "Doom Guy" player model remotely controlled by my buddy after we spent a session of soldering our own first serial link cable linking our two PCs together for the first time and the instant I realized that we were sharing the same "virtual reality" cooperatively across the network in Doom, it became clear to me that this experience is going to have a major and lasting impact on me. That was way over 20 years ago and the passion has steadily grown ever since.

MCS Windows Linux CrossPlatform Multiplayer Showcase #1

Finally got around to install a Linux Desktop Client on one of my older machines for some true crossplatform multiplayer testing.

Crossplatform Multiplayer Setup:
1 x Linux Dedicated Server
1 x Linux Client
1 x Windows Client

MCS Windows Linux CrossPlatform Multiplayer Showcase #2

And to mix things a little up for the win for the second video I used a dedicated windows server to connect the clients to

Crossplatform Multiplayer Setup:
1 x Windows Dedicated Server
1 x Linux Client
1 x Windows Client

I recorded both videos from the perspective of the Linux client cause there are already a gazillion Windows Client based MCS videos out there.

This multiplayer/coop map "Dalen" is entirely built with meshes. Once you've figured out how to properly work the navigation brushes you can quickly produce fairly convincing results.

The map has many different heights, slopes and even a bridge and yet the AI maneuvers reliably through the 3D terrain. It took me less than 30 minutes to setup the navigation brushes in order for the AI to "understand" the geometry of the map.

MCS clientside S3D Virtual Reality Test Direct Footage (idtech4 Doom3 Doom 3 VR)

This is a 9 minutes footage showcase of an early MCS S3D/VR testbuild for anyone owning a professional or DIY VR headset to be able to get an idea of how MCS plays and feels in S3D/VR.

Visual artifacts may still appear for you as this is an early WIP prototype while I am currently in the process of organizing and financing an in-engine S3D/VR solution which will greatly improve appearance and performance for VR specific rendering.

It's a shame that YOUTUBE's compression butchers most of the video's details, crispiness, contrast and colors for S3D/VR device playback.

Here is a link to the original uncrompressed video replicating the quality of what I see when I play MCS with my headset:
http://www.scared-pixel-studios.com/public/movies/mcs/vr/mcs.clientside.coop.vr.test.direct.footage.zip

This footage was recorded clientside connected to a dedicated server across the internet.

As ridiculous as it may seem... I have now witnessed multiple people getting discouraged by this pointless karma system. I remember the user zombie having returned to this page after quite a long abstinence just to delete his username/account again shortly after from this site... after receiving multiple negative karma points... after showcasing some of his latest work...

All I have seen that this karma system does, is to keep potentially talented people like zombie away and it is not like we have a huge community to pick from nowadays and so every loss is one too much, especially if it is because of such a pointless and easily avoidable system.

Just because you and I give a shit about it doesn't mean that others do too... so why not simply eliminating a potential cause of user loss ?

If it's useless, why do you have people bump up yours to be positive, @oneofthe8devilz ?

Yeah right... I "command" my "worshipers" to up-vote me just to have the Karma System removed in the next moment... what a flawed logic  ::)

From the looks of a quick investigation it seems more like it is you who is actually subject of multiple manipulation disputes on the internet/steam: http://steamcommunity.com/id/noxteryn/recommended/96200/

So I guess it takes one to know one  :)

God must it be painful not being able to simply delete those reviews/statements about you and your "games" being publicly visible to literally everyone on steam ;D

This deals more damage and punishment to you in a day than I could personally do to you in a year 8)

Regardless of whatever the story might be behind this topic/user... Friar I think it's safe to say that this forum's "Karma System" is beyond useless in every sense of the word and I think you should remove/disable it...
