Hi,

I wanted to know what is the solution to running this game on windows 7, I've installed it on the new upgrade, but It won't run, I tried run as Administrator, and it is an admin account, the default one.

I have noticed two or three other games are like this, Mafia, GTA 3, Vice city won't even load to install.

Elite force works, the expansion pack cd won 't even run due to 64bit OS.

Driver works, as well I think Men in Black. And San Andreas does work, I think both due to Driver and SA they have newer installation programs on them.

Is this modification still in development, looks interesting. I found this through the members list viewing the web links.

The site is still up.http://www.doom3recall.com/

id Tech 4 Discussion / Doom 3 use duration?

I wanted to get some background how long have the regulars here been editing Doom 3?

And is this the first Doom game you edited for, or are you a longtime fan?

I picked this to try and edit since it was the few games that could run and be edited on an old system. So yeah, I'm no longtime fan or horror fan. A reason to move brushes around, get some doors working and some kind of task for a player.

Hi,

I was reading this section's description about how the core of the game is C++.

With leaving aside basic editing such levels, characters.

Just what has anyone changed or expanded for this game recently or in the past?

Could anyone drive a vehicle? If I recall there was source code released for the game, notsure if I'm confusing this with that, or they interconnected.

id Tech 4 Models and Animations / The md5 file
July 17, 2016, 09:21:44 PM
Hi,

I read the dev site about exporting model meshes for the game. As well as animation.

I want to add a animated model into a map, will this replace an existing character? Or an actual custom should be fine, I think so.

As for exporting into md5, I tried using blender 2.63 with the export from the kats site. It doesn't work.

Reminds me a little of the ASE file and GTKradiant for a game like elite force. Not that an example file work for me at all that is. But yes, that file only worked in that format once everything was connected.

As for texturing, I'd have to load the textures I have used and place them in a textures folder in the Doom 3 folder. I've changed one of four so that isn't a problem, since they are all uv mapped.

Thank you.

id Tech 4 Mods / Anyone still creating for this?
July 11, 2016, 11:38:56 AM
Hi,

While I wasn't able to create what I wanted when I tried last year using the Monorail map due to it requiring more than a basic script. I still wanted to produce something with existing content as I'm attempting now, so far a basic corridor with a couple of doors, one leading to a small room. The Marine will remain there, and will be able to activate a computer.

As to what the computer does, I have one idea for that. But as for some kind of event like demons loading in, either a new model imported in or just an existing demon.

I'm notsure what I could create, Doom is about horror, I'm not much of a fan. I just wanted to give something ago and complete it.

I'm going to be trying Half life 2, existing a released mod from years ago.

I noticed since Doom 4 has been released not long ago, there are going to be modders moving over to that.

Hi,

I tried ctrl shift, left mouse button to select the GUI face. I then select Media to access a texture used for a console of some sort. And it doesn't display in the map, the screen is just turned off.

Are some computers not usable? I got the one from the Mars city map, on the desks that the office staff have.

Hi,

How can I get some doors that don't open, slide open that is?

Hi there,

I was curious to know who actually manages the dev site? I guess nobody here would know.

I did a whois domain search and it states CSC CORPORATE DOMAINS, INC. as being the registrar.

It also states it was first created in October 2004, and is set to expire next month. I imagine the Administrator or who ever or where ever plans to keep it up.

Hi,

I was under the impression Doom 3 had still quite an active modding community? I guess I was obviously wrong. With Elite force that game being fifteen years old this month, there is no more than a handful that including for Elite force 2.

As for the GTA community, I think that is quite strong. Or Mafia that is gone.

One task is modding a game, and the other is developing for it using the game engine with new content in mind.

What actually happened with the team that made the Doom 3 game? I tried to send a couple of emails, one didn't work with one of the team members. I got this via Doom world forums.

I had thought about how old some of the images there must of been, but when I saw the hardware, they were older than my twelve year old system I'm using.

Hi,

So this scripting for Doom 3, if I want to edit an ingame computer key that opens a door, and then want to close that door, where can I get some example code to this? I can use dragon unpacker to open the Pak4 files.

Pak000 seems to have textures for the various levels in the game.

Is notepad an option for typing up a script, like the basic ones.

Hey there,

So for changing a computer console to be used again after first being pressed, c++ code is how it all works out then?

I was able to open Pak4 files using Dragonunpacker. Now to find a standard computer console piece of code.

Hello,

I only bought a copy of Doom 3 last year for the Xbox, I found the game rather repetitive and certainly some freight moments, I'm not a horror fan.

I was reflecting on the game, and the story it being about demons and all that sort of stuff, I actually thought it was to do with Aliens invading a Martian outpost.

I've recently been playing through certain levels, just going through the delta labs area.

I had played the demo in 2004 on a 64MB Geforce MX 420 Graphics card, Pentium 4 2.26GHZ. Which I still own today, how ever the RAM and Graphics card were upgraded years later.

I was just curiously reading about Doom 3 modding, what can anyone here tell me about it?

I wouldn't be interested in new content, just editing a few existing locations in the game, and interconnecting them with a particular set of enemies as an idea.

I guess Mapping and scripting is the focus.

I currently don't own a copy for the PC. I have a Nividia Geforce 6200 (2006) graphics card. The game was released in 2004 for the PC, and as stated I did run a demo in late 2004 on the exact same system I'm still using.

Thanks for reading.
